Art Docent

Paintbrushes, chalks, watercolors, inks, paper and many other art supplies are purchased for Art Docent that the district does not pay for. Parent volunteers teach a preset curriculum to each classroom. The materials include instructions and each session enables the children to work with different art media and learn various techniques, texture, shading, vocabulary and freedom with art…all while learning about classic art. It is not necessary to be art literate as the work is already done for the parent volunteer. A special training session is held to become familiar with the program. All of the posters, information on the artists, activities, guidance and art supplies are provided. Volunteers are needed for each classroom. Art Docent only takes 1 hour a month and the benefits to our kids are long lasting.
